You should take a look at http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/gulfwar2/

It is a good round-up of censored pictures of POWs.

I've put up all the Iraqi photos of captured US soldiers that I could quickly find.  The US has deliberately pressured the US media into not showing them -- and you won't find many copies on the web, even from foreign countries.  (Though many countries' media have shown them on TV.)

I'm trying to increase the number and accessibility of the copies. Please grab them as soon as you can, and publish them yourself.

Yours in resistance to censorship,

John Gilmore

Iraqi Photographs of Captured and Dead American Soldiers - March 23, 2003

The United States attempted to censor these pictures so that Americans could not see them. They were widely shown on television in REAL free countries, such as Canada and many European countries, as well as throughout the Arab world.

The Bush Administration has further proved just how bankrupt is its claim to run a constitutional democracy.

If you have higher quality versions of these pictures, or other censored war pictures, please send them to me for publication. I still believe in the First Amendment, unlike the major US media, who cringe "Yes, Massa" whenever a bureaucrat chastises them.

I have no problem with people downloading these, and/or republishing them. The best cure for bad speech is more speech, according to the US Supreme Court.

Iraqi Photographs of Captured and Dead American Soldiers
These were not published for reasons of decency and respect for those that died to protect those freedoms-even for tasteless, insensitive, morbid people like you . Just because you have the right to put these up doesn't mean its the right thing to do...is it right for people to find out that their loved ones were killed and portrayed to the world this way before they're even told?
What the hell is wrong with you????

I WILL RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO SPEAK YOUR OWN OPINION
I'm a three tour Viet Vet, so I have a little experice with war and death. If you would check your facts, what occured in the US is that the media simply decided, out of respect for the dead and their relatives, that they wouldn't show the pictures until the family had learned of it first hand from the military, which is traditional in the US. Apparetnly, you feel this is some kind of censoring, or control by the media, vis a vis, the American government.

I can only hope that should anything ever happen to you, that your family is spared learning about it on such a public forum as TV, before they get the word from an appropriate agency.

Shame, shame on you, for even thinking that all deaths are public things for all to see anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Obviously, you haven't seen brutal death, and must get some kind of sick pleasure in seeing the discomfort of others.

Fie, on you sir......FIE.......

Mr. Gilmore.

You are a no account sick and sad SOB. You have no shame about posting these pictures of these brave people that are now POWs and are dead.

They gave their lives so that a perverse bastard like yourself can have the freedom to make a mockery of their sacrifice.

There are NO WORDS in the vocabulary that I can type here that can describe my utter contempt for you. You are no better than the bastards that shot these soldiers. it is morons like yourself that should be sent to join the Iraqi army or put yourself in one of Husseins factories as a human shield. Maybe if you were, we'd be lucky that a JDAM would turn you into mist.

But we aren't.

As a father of one of those Marines fighting there, if that was a picture of my son that you were gloating over, I'd make every effort possible to hunt your sick, sadistic, moronic traitorous hide down and make you pay for it.

You have no shame, sir and you definately have no morals about you.

Is there anyway we can turn the hackers loose on this creep?

God this makes me so angry....

You upset me
Why would anyone in their right mind want to share pictures like this? I'm lucky that my little brother isn't in iraq right now, but i do have friends over there and this is NOT the way i would like to see them. i cross my fingers constantly hoping that i don't find out that one of my friends has died defending people from this a-hole and this is the last picture i want to have in my head of them. what would you do if you saw a picture of a loved one like this? why would you want to burden anybody with a vision this horrible? you are a disgrase to this country and i really do hope you go to hell for this. just remember this... karma's a *****.

Iraqi Photos
That the Iraqi pigs would want people to see these, well they are pigs aren't they? But why would an American want to assist them? How would you feel if you saw your son's body, with a smiling Iraqi jerk standing over it? Your mother must be proud!!
God bless America

Shame On You!!!
The pictures of dead soldiers are not being published in the US to honor them, and to spare their families from even greater pain then they are already experiencing!

I find find it extremely sickening that you come to this site to post them. Shame on you.

The pictures
Ahh, this may be a bit off topic, but did anyone else notice these men were still bleeding-out on the floor? This is evidence of a war crime, they were murdered after they were taken prisoner.

My wife used to work in pathology and says that if they were killed before, in the battle, they wouldn't still be bleeding out. As someone who has worked Rescue Squad, crime scenes, and "other things", I concur with her opinion.

I make or state no opinion of these pictures here, just pointing out certain facts that may help bring to justice those who committed this crime.

And it seems the poster didn't post the pictures, he just found the link to a rather sick site. (Sir, seek counseling.)

A dull attempt from a supposed clever man
Well Mr. Gilmore It appears you are getting just the reaction you desire. Quite a simple move for a man of such supposed intellectual means. This is the same tactic used by bigots and hate mongers. I suspect however you see yourself on the other side of the fence. Do you believe that if the American people saw these they would want to stop the war? Perhaps they would see the hell of war and the lack of humanity? Then would come the undeniable tidal wave of the American public's cry to stop the war all all costs?

Perhaps not. Although respect for the families of the dead is honorable perhaps there is more to this than you realize. Do you have a family? Would you be offended if you saw a picture posted in a public forum of your loved one's head blown apart from a point blank shot? Maybe not or maybe you feel they get what they deserve.

Consider this. The majority of Americans are in favor of this war. Chances are that viewing these pictures would have a strong affect on them either way. Either your way or the other. The other being an increased motivation to fight this war. Perhaps to fight harder and with less regard to Iraqi life. How would you feel then?

Also, let me ask you, not that I expect you to give this any real thought, but what if the stories are true? What if the people of Iraq are tortured and killed daily by the Saddam regime. Is that ok as long as it isn't reported in the mainstream media? As long as no one lets them broadcast video of Iraqi's killing Iraqi's?

Why don't you put your heart into your convictions and go to Iraq? Why don't you try to make a difference to some Human Beings who don't have a computer or know what IP is? Why don't you start caring about someone or something other than yourself and your selfish interests?

Probably because brilliance doesn't imply compassion or common sense. But of course you know I'm wrong don't you? Yah, I thought so.

Gentlemen.

I emailed this poor excuse of a human being and got this in reply.
He basicly said that those poor soldiers were WAR CRIMINALs since they were fighting for a criminal government.

His email is gnu@toad.com

wonder how he'd like it if his mailbox got so stuffed that he'd be deleting mail till kingdom come.

We may not be able to carry a weapon with our brothers-in -arms, but maybe we can make some of these jerks pay alittle.

I want some payback..how'bout y'all

What if???
What if that was one of your relatives? Would you like to see picture of your siblings/parents/ whoever being abused like that on TV for all to see and enjoy the way you apparently do? There has got to be a difference between decency and censorship. I suppose you would like pics of all the poor children that are molested in this world too? Just go ask the Pope for some.

There are no words to discribe how upsetting it was to me that there would be a link to this on military.com. As a former Marine, and Gulf War Veteran, and the wife of a Marine currently serving forthe second time in the Gulf, I am saddened to see this. The families of these heroes desreve better then this. They died honorably, and should be respected for it. This is outrageous. I would hope that military.com would hold higher standers for their members.

AND LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE. BUT I GUESS THAT SINCE WE SUPPLY YOUR FREEDOM YOU ARE FREE TO EXPLOIT US. THESE HUMAN BEINGS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES UP FOR PATHETIC EXCUSES FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU DESERVE MORE RESPECT THAN THE WHOLE WORLD BEING ABLE TO SEE THEIR INNARDS AS THEY LAY DEAD, WETHER IT BE ON THE INTERNET OR ON TELEVISION.I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE BUT YOU HAVE TAKEN IT TOO FAR. YES WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE DEAD AND WOUNDED FROM ALL SIDES, BUT TO WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT THAT BAD CONJURES UP IMAGES OF HANNIBAL LECHTER LOOKING THROUGH THE EYES OF A DEAD MAN'S FACE AS HE WORE IT ON HIS HEAD.TO WANT TO BE THAT CLOSE TO DEATH IS NOT FASCINATING BUT DISTURBING.THE ABILITY TO SEE THESE IMAGES DOES NOTHING BUT SICKEN AND SADDEN ME AND MAKES ME WONDER WHY ANYBODY WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE UP THEIR LIVES FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU.ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM.
